Joseph Smith's Mistranslation of an Egyptian Funeral Text
The Pearl of Great Price is one of four "scriptures" recognized by the Mormon Church. According to Mormon teachings, parts of the Pearl of Great Price were translated by Joseph Smith, Jr., from some Egyptian hieroglyphics. Smith claimed these hieroglyphics were written by the biblical character, Abraham.
As demonstrated by the photocopies contained in this booklet, the hieroglyphics were actually part of an Egyptian funeral text. They had nothing to do with Abraham. From this information, it is obvious that God was not giving Joseph Smith the translation of the Egyptian text.
