Mormonism is not like Christianity
15th President Gordon B. Hinckley -
"They [Mormons] are generally classed as Protestants, since they are not Catholic. Actually they are no closer to Protestantism than they are to Catholicism. Neither historically nor on the basis of modern association, theology, or practice can they be grouped with either...Suffice it to say that its theology, its organization, and its practices are in many respects entirely unique among today's Christian denominations" (LDS tract What of the Mormons? (non-paginated), 1976).

Man not saved by grace alone
12th LDS President Spencer W. Kimball -
"One of the most fallacious doctrines originated by Satan and propounded by man is that man is saved alone by the grace of God; that belief in Jesus Christ alone is all that is needed for salvation" (The Miracle of Forgiveness, p. 206).

Joseph must judge us all
2nd LDS President Brigham Young -
"From the day that the Priesthood was taken from the earth to the winding-up scene of all things, every man and woman must have the certificate of Joseph Smith, junior, as a passport to their entrance into the mansion where God and Christ are -- I with you and you with me. I cannot go there without his consent" (Journal of Discourses 7:289).

Not even Jesus did what I did
Joseph Smith -
"I have more to boast of than ever any man had. I am the only man that has ever been able to keep a whole church together since the days of Adam. A large majority of the whole have stood by me. Neither Paul, John, Peter, nor Jesus ever did it. I boast that no man ever did such a work as I" (Documentary History of the Church 6:408).

Mortal man must become a god
12th LDS President Spencer W. Kimball -
"Man can transform himself and he must. Man has in himself the seeds of godhood, which can germinate and grow and develop. As the acorn becomes the oak, the mortal man becomes a god. It is within his power to lift himself by his very bootstraps from the plane on which he finds himself to the plane on which he should be. It may be a long, hard lift with many obstacles, but it is a real possibility" (The Teachings of Spencer W. Kimball, p.28).

The blood of Christ is insufficient
10th President Joseph Fielding Smith -
"But man may commit certain grievous sins -- according to his light and knowledge -- that will place him beyond the reach of the atoning blood of Christ. If then he would be saved, he must make sacrifice of his Own life to atone -- so far as in his power lies -- for that sin, for the blood of Christ alone under certain circumstances will not avail" (Doctrines of Salvation 1:134).

Salvation by grace is a lie
10th President Joseph Fielding Smith -
"One of the most pernicious doctrines ever advocated by man, is the doctrine of 'justification by faith alone,' which has entered into, the hearts of millions since the days of the so-called 'reformation'" (The Restoration of All Things, p.192).

Look Magazine, Oct 22, 1963, p. 79
"I would not want you to believe that we bear any animosity toward the Negro. 'Darkies' are a wonderful people, and they have their place in our church."
