A friend of mine is a former witch. He has given me all the right answers when it comes to what Christianity is all about. He still struggles with his past in witchcraft and wonders if and why the spirit of witchcraft and the Spirit of the one true living God can coincide and seem to work together in his body.

I appreciate any insight you can give me,

Jon

Jon:

If your friend was heavily involved in the occult and is now a born again Christian, it is not unusual for him to struggle with the past. He is in the process of being renewed. His mind, his will, his emotions are all being conformed to the Christian image.

Obviously it is not possible for him to be given over to witchcraft and profess to be a Christian:
"No, but the sacrifices of pagans are offered to demons, not to God, and I do not want you to be participants with demons.
You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons too; you cannot have a part in both the Lord's table and the table of demons." (1Cor. 10:20-21)

It is, however, very important for him to cut all ties with the past and become involved in strong Christian fellowship, bible study, and prayer. It is important for Christians to pray with him, as well as for him.
